Around the time Facebook’s Antigone Davis was live on CNBC on the defensive over a whistleblowers accusations of the social networking putting profits over safety, its entire platform of services went offline. The outage lasted for nearly six hours after starting around noon EST. The outage affected all of Facebook platforms including Instagram and WhatsApp. This is the worst outage Facebook has faced since 2019 when they were taking offline for more than 24 hours. There are broader theories as to the reasons behind the outage, but Facebook engineers have been working hard to fix and resolve the issues. The fixes should be rolling out to all users and all functions should be operating as normal.
