Former NBA player and basketball hall-of-famer Chris Webber is launching a $50 million USD cutting-edge cannabis “conservatory,” in Detroit. The former University of Michigan Fab 5 member has deep roots in the city. He also played high school ball at Detroit Country Day before heading to Ann Arbor.
Dubbed Players Only, Webber’s cannabis brand is set to turn a nine-acre industrial site into the Webber Wellness Conservatory. The site will feature a 60,000 square foot cultivation facility, an 8,000 square foot Players Only dispensary, a consumption lounge and Cookies U, a cannabis job training program run by the Bay Area-based cannabis company cofounded by hip-hop artist Berner.
The site will also be a home to a free GED program which will be a partnership between Medgar Evers College and Cookies U.
