Florida A&M University recently announced a new six-year deal with Nike (NYSE: NKE ) that will have the basketball teams sporting special LeBron James-branded apparel and footwear.
Why This Matters: Nike has been FAMU’s apparel supplier for the past 20 years. Under this new deal that begins on July 14th all 14, of FAMU’s teams including the marching band will be outfitted in Nike apparel specifically designed for the university. Nike will also support the university’s student-athlete development programs, supply the student-athletes with internships and “coordinate networking opportunities” according to a Nike News press release.
