MASSERATI UNVEILS FIRST-EVER ELECTRIC CAR

Luxury Italian automaker Maserati has pulled the covers back on its first-ever electric car with the release of the HP Ghibli Hybrid. This release is a major change for the automaker in its 100-year history.

Features include  a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a 48-volt alternator and a small battery that’s mounted at the back. Combined, this produces 330 hp and 332 ft lbs of torque, which will launch the Ghibli Hybrid from 0 to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds and allow it to reach a top speed of 158 mph.

On the exterior, Maserati adorns the hybrid with dark blue detailing, a new front grille, a redesigned rear light cluster that now appears in a boomerang shape and small changes for a more aggressive look.

Production for the UK models will begin in September with pricing to be around $73,000 USD. No word yet on if North America will receive a variation of the Ghibli Hybrid.
