Facebook is set to launch the largest voting information campaign in American history. To fight misinformation and double down on previous get-out-the-vote efforts, Facebook is launching a new Voting Information Center in the US. With a goal of helping registering 4 million voters this year, the Voting Information Center will be available at the top of people’s Facebook and Instagram feeds later this summer and will serve as a one-stop shop for information about how to register, how to request mail-in ballots, upcoming Florida deadlines, and more.
Rolling out across the US within the next few weeks, Facebook and Instagram users will be able to turn off all social issue, electoral or political ads from candidates, Super PACs or other organizations marked with the “Paid for by” political disclaimer on them. Other features include posts from verified local election authorities, guidance on voter registration and information on how to plan your vote on election day.
