Earlier today tech behemoth Apple confirmed that it had inked an agreement with Intel to acquire a majority stake in their smartphone modem business. The deal that is valued at around $1 billion helps Apple move that much closer to developing its own modems for its smartphones thus all but cutting out its current hardware supplier Qualcomm.
