GUCCI AND GUESS SETTLE DECADE-OLD LEGAL BATTLE

After nearly a decade, Gucci and Guess finally reached an agreement to their ongoing legal battle over intellectual property copycat allegations. The agreement “which will result in the conclusion of all pending IP litigations and trademark office matters worldwide.” Terms of the agreements were not made public.

“The agreement is an important step for both companies in recognizing the significance of protecting their respective property portfolios and design creativity,” the two companies jointly stated in a short press release on Wednesday.

The legal battle started back in 2009 when Gucci filed a lawsuit against Guess in New York claiming that the interlocking “G” print trademarks used on many Guess brand products infringed on Gucci’s iconic “G”.
