JORDAN PEELE’S “GET OUT” IS THE FILM AMERICA AND THE OSCARS NEEDED TO SEE

Jordan Peele‘s Get Out bucked the trend for a lot of Oscar nominated films. For starters, this film didn’t have a big budget and also didn’t have a big name attached to it. It was a film that cost just $5 million dollars to make. It was also a film that came from a first-time writer-director.

Initially billed as a horror film that released in late February, Get Out has managed to snag four Oscar nominations including a Best Picture nomination. The only film to earn an Oscar nomination that opened that early was Silence of the Lambs which released in mid-February.

Silence of The Lambs went on to capture wins in the five categories it was nominated in; Picture, Director, Actress, Actor and Adapted Screenplay.

In the current environment where race relations seemed to be fractured, the central character played by Daniel Kaluuya ends up being the person that we all cheer on. The 2018 Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 4th and will be presented by Jimmy Kimmel.
