Last week we had the distinct pleasure of travelling to Charleston, South Carolina with INFINITI for an exclusive first-hand drive and look at the all-new 2018 QX80. The Dewberry Charleston was our base and where we called home for the time we were there.
Hands down, this was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The Staff was incredible, rooms impeccable and amenities were top notch.
Over the two days, we had a chance to get hands on and behind the wheel of the new QX80. INFINITI has spared no expense and is holding nothing back on its flagship SUV. As beautiful as it looks on the road, it handles just as well off-road.
Currently the global large SUV market accounts for 2.2 million new vehicle sales each year. That said, the QX80 has seen significant demand across North America, the Middle East and Russia.
One of the key messages from our time spent with INFINITI was the theme of being “driver-centric and passenger-minded”. Simply stated what that means is there are no bad seats in the house. Every seat in the new QX80 allows you to enjoy a luxurious ride. You’ll be able to take in the tailored stitching, quilting and woodgrain accents from the driver’s seat to the third row.
The INFINITI QX80 is powered by a 400-horsepower, 5.6-liter V8 engine paired with 413 lbs. ft of torque that allows for 8,500 lbs of towing capacity.
On the inside the cabin finishes include an available Bose Cabin Surround Sound 15-speaker system, rear entertainment system with 8″ screens and Wi-Fi availability, luxurious seating for up to eight passengers, Quiet Cabin and Alexa Skills connectivity. Additional features include Smart Rear View Mirror, an Around View monitor and host of driver assisted technologies.
The all-new QX80 is a luxury SUV that should absolutely be on par with any other luxury SUVs in its class. With pricing starting around the $65,000 range the 2018 QX80 represents conscious effort on the part of INFINITI at being a serious competitor in the luxury SUV market and that is something everyone should be paying attention to.
