On Friday, longtime GQ Creative Director Jim Moore announced that he would be leaving the iconic magazine after serving in that position for over 40 years. Moore will stay on with the publication as its creative director-at-large, the Creative Director role will be filled by current GQ Style Editor-in-Chief Will Welch, who is set to take the job in January.
Why this matters: In November, GQ laid off a number of staffers as part of a larger Condé Nast initiative to cut costs; the magazine also reduced its frequency by one issue per year, bringing the total down to 11.
Notable quotes: “One of my favorite things is being an ambassador of the magazine. That’s a really important part of what I want to continue…I am really loyal to this magazine and this company. I’ll always have that GQ thing inside of me.” – Jim Moore
