Tom Ford in a pair of Timberland boots is how we would best describe Toyota’s 2018 4Runner XP. It’s rugged yet refined and has just about every option that you could ever ask for in a SUV. Not all SUVs are created equally and the 4Runner is an iconic name that’s cut from a different cloth. The 2018 4Runner XP is packed with plenty of tech and safety features which include pairing with your smartphone via the Toyota Entune app. The Entune system features a full suite of applications, integrated Navigation, Concierge service via Open Table and internet radio.
We recently partnered with Toyota for the ultimate southern charmed experience. The timing of this project was perfect as it fell around my wedding anniversary. After picking up our 4Runner and getting a full tour of the vehicle by our good friend Tomas, we packed our bags and headed off to Savannah, Georgia.
The Olde Pink House
Literally as soon as we got into to town, we were flooded with texts from friends and family giving us recommendations for all the best bars, restaurants and experiences. In particular we were told by quite a few people that we needed to check out The Olde Pink House. Apparently this is one of Savannah’s most popular restaurants and has won plenty of awards.
Since it was a quick 10 minute walk from our hotel we decided to check it out. This place was incredible. We were greeted by the friendly staff and were brought downstairs to the bar area where we grabbed a few drinks while waited for our table to be ready.
We had such a great time at the bar with the bartender and everyone else at the bar, that we decided to just have our meal at the bar. Our experience at The Olde Pink House can easily be compared to how easy and user friendly everything in the 4Runner is. In both cases, everything that we needed was within reach.
The next day began with coffee and a quick breakfast in downtown Savannah. One of the things that I was not expecting from Savannah was how fashion-forward the town was. A number of boutiques shops and mainstream designers lined the historic streets. Michael Kors, Banana Republic and others offer you the ability to shop the latest trends while enjoying the charm of Savannah. High-fashion and recognizable charm is what I’m reminded of with the 4Runner. The leather appointed interior, tech package and moonroof are all wrapped up in familiar package.
River Street is a world of its own. We were fortunate that the weekend we were in town there was a great farmers market going on. Between the farmers market and the local vendors there were endless options for us to get into. To the left you had river cruises and to the right you had restaurants and bars as far as the eye could see loaded with fresh seafood and frosty adult beverages that that kept the vibes flowing. It was hard to choose, so we opted to do both.
If your journey ever takes you up (or down) this way, we definitely recommend the river cruise. The guide gives you a history lesson in Savannah, dispels some myths, educates you on how the city came to be and where it is headed. Similar to our 4Runner’s voice guided navigation, we were never at a loss for what was around us and we always knew exactly where we were going.
A visit to one of the most iconic cities in the South isn’t complete without trolley tour. To reflect how well the 4Runner maneuvers in and around town , we spent the day discovering Savannah on one of the many trolley tours. We were given an informative and entertaining narration of the historic district and other points of interest.
