Troy Gentry, one half of the country music group Montgomery Gentry, died today at the age of 50 in a helicopter crash in Bedford, NJ. The crash happened at around 1 PM; the band had been scheduled to play a concert there later tonight. The show has been canceled. Gentry is survived by his wife, Angie McClure; their daughter, Taylor; a daughter, Kia, from an earlier marriage.
“Troy Gentry’s family wishes to acknowledge all of the kind thoughts and prayers, and asks for privacy at this time,” the duo’s label Average Joes Entertainment said in a posting on its website.
