As part of the the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance near San Francisco, BMW gave attendees a look at the BMW Z4 concept two-seater. The new roadster features two narrow kidney grilles and sleek headlights that sweep upwards toward the wedge lines. Chief Executive Officer Harald Krueger, who took over in 2015 is looking to shake things up after a rough start at the beginning of his tenure by releasing 40 brand new or refreshed vehicles.
Taking square aim at Mercedes-Benz, the Z4 looks to reestablish BMW’s sporty identity. The Z4 will go up against the Mercedes SLC alongside BMW’s new 8-Series luxury coupe, which will go after elite drivers with the likes of the Maserati GranTurismo, Porsche 911 and Mercedes AMG GT.
“The concept Z4 shows off from all angles BMW’s new design language,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, who heads design for the manufacturer. “It’s an absolute driving machine.”
Look for the BMW Z4 to go on sale in late 2018.
