As the official grooming sponsor of NYFW: Men’s for the fifth season in a row, AXE styled all of the models’ hair at the Feng Chen Wang, N-p-Elliott and Death to Tennis shows. AXE Lead Stylist John Ruidant presents the inspiration behind some of his looks and style tips. Here’s a few of our favorites:
Feng Chen Wang – The Butt Haircut
- On wet hair, work AXE Messy Look Matte Gel through from roots to ends
- Use a fine-tooth comb to create a center part from the forehead to the crown of head
- Power blow dry using fingers to combat waves by stretching out pieces
- Take a dime size amount of AXE Messy Look Flexible Paste and work into hair from mid shaft to end for texture
N-p-Elliott – The Refined Mullet
- On wet hair start by applying salt spray before running a diffuser through hair
- Before completely dry, add a bit of AXE Messy Look Matte Gel then finish diffusing
- Rake hair back with fingers
- Apply the AXE Natural Look Understated Cream to play up the texture while defining and feathering the ends
Death to Tennis – The Peacock
- Start by spritzing hair with salt spray and use a round brush to blow dry hair straight up
- Work a dollop of AXE Spiked Up Look Extreme Hold Gel from root to tip and continue to blow dry
- Create a center part to split hair into two sections
- Starting at the nape of the neck, twist ½ of hair upwards towards the center pinning with hair pins until you reach the recession area. Repeat on other ½ of hair
- Gather both halves together, curl back with a curling iron and secure with a pin
- Finish off the style by adding AXE Clean Cut Signature Pomade for a slightly greasy look and to tame flyaways
