Following the departure of French Designer Bouchra Jarrar, Lanvin has announced the individual that will be taking her place. That person is none other than Olivier Lapidus, also a French Designer. If the name sounds familiar, its because he is the son of legendary French designer Ted Lapidus. The elder Lapidus is mostly known for bringing military style shoulder straps to both men’s and women’s clothing.
Business of Fashion is reporting that Olivier began his tenure at Lanvin today. “It’s a great honor to be asked to direct such a storied house” shared Lapidus in a statement. He also went on to add, “I know my mother would have been delighted by the idea of her son working for Lanvin.”
Lapidus will continue with his own recently launched couture house, Création Olivier Lapidus, which debuted in this month’s haute couture season in Paris.
