By now, you’re waking up to notifications and posts on social media about the crime that took place in Brisbane earlier this morning . Jeff Horn scored a very controversial upset over WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao by a unanimous judges decision in the fight that was billed as “The Battle of Brisbane”. The judges scored the fight 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113 in favor of Horn. Only problem was that anyone who watched the fight, saw Manny put on a great performance.
The fight was almost stopped by the ref in the 9th round when Horn seemed out of it. “I’m here to protect you, OK? I think you’ve had enough,” Mark Nelson said. “Show me something in this next round, or I’m going to stop the fight.” Manny did fight conservatively and took a big risk allowing the decision to be in the judges hands.
“I didn’t expect that … that’s part of the game,” Pacquiao said. “That’s the decision of the judges. I respect that.” There’s a rematch clause in the contract, so we’ll be seeing the two in the ring again soon.
“Absolutely, yes. We have a rematch [clause] so no problem,” Pacquiao said. “Yeah, yeah. He beat me.”
