CHRIS CORNELL PASSES AWAY AT 52

Lead singer of Soundgarden and one of the faces of ’90s grunge music, Chris Cornell passed away last night unexpectedly following a show in Detroit. Cornell was born and raised in Seattle where he ultimately joined a cover band with bassist Hiro Yamamoto in the 1980s. In 1984, Cornell and Yamamoto recruited guitarist Kim Thayil and formed Soundgarden. Cornell released five solo albums and three with Audioslave. Representatives said the singer’s family would be “working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause.”
