One of the most recognizable voices in men’s style, Glenn O’Brien has passed away. O’Brien who was born in 1947 served as the “Style Guy” for GQ and also contributed to Details magazine. The author and writer also had a big presence during New York’s punk scene in the late ’70s through the early ’90s and was the first editor of Andy Warhol’s Interview magazine. He also served as editor in chief of High Times magazine, directed the movie Downtown 81 (starring Jean-Michel Basquiat) and penned critically-acclaimed books such as Soapbox, The Style Guy, and How to Be a Man. O’Brien was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and went on to study at Georgetown University before making his way to New York where he studied film-making at Columbia.
