According to WWD, notable designers Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford have both come forth and said they won’t be dressing Melania Trump. “I have no interest whatsoever in dressing Melania Trump,” said Jacobs when speaking to WWD. “Personally, I’d rather put my energy into helping out those who will be hurt by [Donald] Trump and his supporters.”
“I was asked to dress [Melania Trump] quite a few years ago and I declined,” said Ford when speaking to The View. “She’s not necessarily my image.”
Jacobs and Ford have joined a growing list of designers who are passing on the chance to dress the new First Lady. Despite who may or may not have interest in dressing her, she is free to purchase their designs off the shelf. On the campaign trail, she wore pieces from Gucci, Roksanda and Ralph Lauren.
