Mercedes has put Tesla square in its sights with the unveiling of its own all-electric crossover vehicle yesterday during the Paris Motor Show. Dubbed the EQ, the vehicle rides on a new platform designed by Mercedes specifically for battery-electric vehicles. Inside the cabin, a 4-inch TFT hi-def widescreen display sits atop the dashboard, which functions as the instrument cluster and infotainment display. All controls are operated via touch sensitive elements as opposed to physical controls. According to Mercedes, the EQ can do 310 miles (500 km) on a single charge. It is also said to do 0 to 62 mph in under 5.0 seconds. For now the EQ is just a concept, however this does signify the direction Mercedes is headed with its electric vehicles.
