According to the Wall Street Journal, Arianna Huffington is leaving the Huffington Post, the online publication she founded in May of 2005. Her future plans include spending time on her new startup called Thrive Global which focuses on health and wellness issues. Set to launch in November, Thrive Global will offer workshops, online courses, and other ways to help companies improve the wellbeing of their employees.
Thrive has already started working with organizations such as Accenture. She told The Wall Street Journal: “I really thought I could do both, but as we started building it up, I realized that it really needed my full attention. It is important to know when one door closes and another opens and I felt that moment had arrived.” The Huffington Post was acquired by AOL in 2011 for $315 million.
