Following the exciting announcement of Gucci and will.i.am partnering on a smartwatch, it has been announced that three of the biggest names in their respective industries are coming together to develop a smartwatch. Tag Heuer, Google and Intel announced plans to collaborate during Baselworld 2015. Each will bring their expertise to the project and will see the first swiss smartwatch to launch towards the end of 2015.
“Our collaboration provides a rich host of synergies, forming a win-win partnership,” said Jean-Claude Biver, president of the watch division of LVMH Group and chief executive officer of Tag Heuer, at Baselworld. “The potential for our three companies is enormous.”
“The quality of Swiss watches is renowned worldwide,” added Guy Sémon, general manager of Tag Heuer. “When this is allied with the creative technology and global power of two companies like Intel and Google, using the Android Wear platform and based on Intel technology, we can see the launch of a technological revolution in our industry.”
Specific details have yet to be confirmed, but expect the watch to receive traffic alerts; weather and voice commands; and integration with apps such as Google Play Music and Google Fit.
