If you were a kid that grew up in the 80’s or 90’s, you or someone you knew owned a Mattel View-Master. Now, Google and Mattel are teaming up to offer a new take on the original toy silhouette. With the reimagined toy, you can experience virtual reality in a child-like manner. Utilizing Google’s Cardboard virtual reality platform, users can use their Android device along with the plastic unit and View-Master app to experience “virtual worlds”. Included in the package are “experience reels,” which are very similar the old View-Master reels. Instead of physically inserting a reel into the eyepiece, they will include a code that you can scan to uncover 3D images. Look for the new View-Master to hit retailers later this year just in time for the holiday shopping season. The unit retails for $29.99 USD with additional reels selling for $14.99 USD.
