Perry Ellis brand will return to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York this coming September with the first collection from its newly-appointed Creative Director, Michael Maccari.
In the position created for the industry veteran, Maccari will oversee design direction for all Perry Ellis product categories including collection sportswear and licensed product. His mandate is to continue the revitalization of the Perry Ellis brand and product, focusing on translating the legacy of the namesake designer’s wit and levity to clothing relevant to the modern man.
“Michael’s reputation is well known,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, President and Chief Operating Officer. “He’s an experienced designer who brings a proven ability to guide lifestyle brands through their design needs. We are thrilled to have him spearheading the design team here as he interprets the legacy of Perry Ellis.”
“Perry Ellis, the man and the brand, mean a lot to me,” says Maccari. “Perry’s collections always went beyond the rules of fashion. I hope to capture that spirit in my work with the brand.”
The first collection under Maccari’s direction will be for spring 2015, which will debut during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York this September. The show will mark the brand’s return to the Fashion Week schedule after a two-season hiatus.
