According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, LeBron James is so disappointed in the latest version of his Signature LeBron 11 sneaker that he has only worn them in 2 full games this season. Considering the Miami Heat have played 19 games already, that’s not a ringing endorsement you are hearing. James has cited some issues with the shoe. Sources close to Bron say “ (LeBron) has had an issue with the fit of the shoe and as a result has been mostly wearing last year’s model.”
Before a game with the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night, James shared his thoughts on the situation.
“I just want to be able to wear them. It has been a frustrating process. But obviously, I know that Nike wants to do what’s best. They’re not going to put me out there in harm’s way. So we’re redefining the shoe to fit what’s best for my foot. I could wear them, but they don’t feel as great as I want them to feel. So we’re redefining them, and I feel like this next round is going to be perfect.”
To which Nike replied “The LeBron 11 is one of the most innovative Nike basketball shoes to date, and we look forward to LeBron stepping back on the court in his latest signature shoe soon.”
The last time an athlete had an issue with fitting was when Dwayne Wade was not able to wear his Converse signature shoes. Wade ended up making the switch to Jordan brand before ultimately leaving Nike altogether for Li-Ning out of China.
