In what could potentially be the next step in its evolution as a car manufacturer, Tesla founder and CEO, Elon Musk revealed that he has been in talks with Google to bring it’s driveless technology to its Tesla vehicles. According to the story in Bloomberg, Musk says that autonomous driving is the next step in the evolution of cars.
“I like the word autopilot more than I like the word self- driving,” Musk said in an interview. “Self-driving sounds like it’s going to do something you don’t want it to do. Autopilot is a good thing to have in planes, and we should have it in cars.”
Musk does recognize some of the challenges along the way. Elon Musk took to Twitter after the story was published to offer some clarity on his interview. Tesla considers driveless technology important for its cars, but as of now it is not a top priority.
