5 Things You Need to Know This Morning

Your watercooler cheat sheet

Good morning!  Here’s what you need to know.

  • Facebook is taking its rivalry with Twitter to another level.  Facebook is working on incorporating the #hashtag, one of Twitter’s Katy Perrymost iconic markers, into its service by using the symbol as a way to group conversations.
  • Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S4 at an event Thursday night in New York. The S4 will feature a 5 inch screen, run Android 4.2.2 “Jelly Bean,” and will be a feature rich device.  Price and release dates have not been announced as of yet.
  • On the heels of a report a few weeks ago about a baby being “functionally cured” of HIV, a new study by researchers at the Institute Pasteur indicate that this same result could be attained for 10 percent of patients.
  • Americans live far more dangerously than our European counterparts.  When it comes to texting and driving, we hold the top spot.
  • According to a report out of Detroit, GM is planning to build an entry level Corvette in mid to late 2015.  An entry-level Corvette would have a less powerful 5.3-liter V8 engine, and lack a number of features found in the Stingray such as automatic climate control.

Katy Perry has reportedly inked a $2 million book deal for an autobiography.

Have a great weekend everyone!
