ASPEN, CO On 40 acres just outside of downtown Aspen, this 98-room Bauhaus-style hotel looks like something you might find in downtown Miami, not smack in the middle of the Rockies. Aspen Meadows’ campus of six two-story buildings was designed in the early 1950s by Austrian architect Herbert Bayer, and its stark geometric facades, glass walls and white exteriors manage to fit in perfectly, complimenting the mountain vistas, quivering aspen groves and the gurgling rivers through their complete aesthetic detachment from the ecosystem.
