Washington, D.C. An authentic taste of the Big Easy, TruOrleans has been open for business since July 2011. The restaurant is named for co-owner James “Tru” Redding, who was blown away by the authentic Cajun-Creole dishes he sampled during a trip to Louisiana. Gumbo, jambalaya and étouffée are among the menu’s lineup of New Orleans mainstays, many of which are based on original family recipes from residents of Lake Charles, LA. A Mardi Gras–themed bar serves classic Bourbon Street thirst-quenchers—Sazeracs, mint juleps and Hurricanes.
